Gaming Agent Page Redesign

/

Year

/

Valorant is a character-based tactical shooter where players explore unique agents, abilities, and roles. The current Agents page is functional but prioritizes information over immersion, making character discovery less engaging. This redesign transforms the experience into a character-first showcase with stronger visual hierarchy, intuitive navigation, and improved accessibility while staying true to Valorant's visual identity.

Problem

The current Valorant Agents page presents information effectively but lacks a strong visual hierarchy, making character exploration feel less engaging. Agent personalities and roles are not immediately distinguishable, requiring users to scan through content.

Since players often choose agents based on personality, abilities, and playstyle, this creates unnecessary friction especially for new players learning the game.

The redesign aims to create a more immersive, character-first experience with clearer navigation, improved accessibility, and faster agent discovery.

Redesigning Goals

The redesign focuses on creating a strong visual hierarchy that highlights the selected agent while delivering a more immersive experience that feels like an extension of the Valorant universe. It also enhances Gamer UX by making agent discovery and comparison faster and more intuitive.

Accessibility is improved through better contrast, typography, spacing, and visual grouping to increase readability. Simplified navigation allows players to browse between agents effortlessly, reducing cognitive load and creating a smoother exploration experience.

Research

A competitive analysis of Valorant, Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, and League of Legends showed that effective hero pages prioritize large character visuals, strong visual hierarchy, quick role recognition, and immersive storytelling. Community feedback also highlighted the need for better agent visibility, cleaner navigation, and easier comparison. Subtle contrasts and refined alignments bring a sense of precision, helping content stand out without unnecessary decoration.

User Persona & Journey

The redesign targets both competitive players, who want quick agent comparison and efficient ability discovery, and new players, who need clearer role understanding. The new user journey transforms the experience from excessive scanning and information overload into a smooth, immersive flow with faster agent recognition and effortless navigation.

Key Insights

Players connect with an agent's personality before exploring their abilities, making strong visual hierarchy essential for quick recognition. Highlighting the selected agent immediately reduces cognitive load and improves discoverability.

An immersive interface paired with accessible typography, contrast, and clear navigation creates a smoother browsing experience. These elements help players scan information faster while maintaining Valorant's visual identity.

A Final Reflection

The goal of this redesign wasn't to reinvent Valorant's visual identity, it was to amplify it.

By prioritizing Visual Hierarchy, Immersion, Gamer UX, Accessibility, and Navigation, the redesigned Agents page creates a stronger connection between players and characters while making agent discovery faster, more intuitive, and more enjoyable.

The result is an experience that feels less like browsing a website and more like stepping into the world of Valorant.
